CCCU Arbitration Workshop
Save the date - 1 May

Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) is running another exciting and ambitious project in 2024, hot on the heels of its very successful collaboration with the South-East branch of CIArb that culminated in the winners of last year?s competition representing CCCU at the world-renowned Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (Vis Moot) in Vienna last month and for the very first time in the University?s history.

This year?s project features a workshop for students and practitioners and a mooting competition for students. Both events are to be held at CCCU.

The Workshop on Wednesday 1 May 2024, chaired by Jonathan Wood FCIArb, President of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), will have the students who represented CCCU at the 31st Vis Moot in Vienna, showing off their skills as Counsel in an International Arbitration hearing before a three-member panel chaired by the President of CIArb. To round off the Workshop, there will be a short panel discussion on topical issues in International Arbitration. The event starts at 6pm followed by drinks and networking at 7.30pm and will take place at the Terrace Lecture Theatre, 3rd Floor, Augustine House, CCCU.

Members of the South-East CIArb, members of the Kent Law Society, and students from CCCU are all invited to the Workshop. At the reception afterwards it is hoped that students will be so impressed with what they saw during the Workshop, they will sign up for this year?s mooting competition in the style of the world-renowned Vienna Vis Moot.

To secure your place, please send an email to Eunice Shang-Simpson headed CCCU Arbitration Workshop at es683@canterbury.ac.uk
